On the 10 th February 2024, HTA School of Culinary Art held its graduation for their 1-Year
and 2-Year Full-Time Programme students at the Hilton Hotel, Sandton.
The Graduation was well attended, with over 250 guests including 60 graduates that were
able to attend on the day. It was a day of celebration for the students, as their hard work of
the past couple of years’ blood, sweat and tears came to fruition; they are now able to go into
the world of Professional Cookery and call themselves “Chef”.
The keynote speaker was Chef Kabelo Segone, Managing Director of HTA Training and
Development and in attendance, special guest Jeanab Morris-Makhene, City and Guilds –
Head of Africa, along with esteemed Executive Chefs from the greater Sandton and
Randburg region.
The procession was led by HTA’s principal, Chef Carien van Tonder, followed by Sharnè
Govender, HTA School of Culinary Art’s Head Lecturer with her heart-warming emceeing
remembering the graduates time at HTA; Chef Carien also shared some words of wisdom
with the Graduates.
We look forward to seeing these bright future stars in the Hotels, Restaurants and Kitchens
around South Africa and the globe.
