The Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) is a Quality Council established in terms of the Skills Development Act. It’s role is to oversee the design, implementation, assessment and certification of occupational qualifications on the Occupational Qualifications Sub-Framework (OQSF).
QCTO Trade Test Centre
The QCTO has set policies to accredit Trade Test Centre (TTC) /Assessment Centre (AC). This is to ensure that education and training in occupations and trades offered in the country are credible and
valid. This is in accordance with the Skills Development Act (SDA), (Act No 97 of 1998) Chapter 6C as well as the Continuing Education and Training Act 16 of 2006.

The Culture, Art, Tourism, Hospitality, and Sport Sector Education and Training Authority (CATHSSETA) is one of the 21 SETAs established under the Skills Development Act (No 97 of 1998) in 2001.CATHSSETA was formally known as the Tourism and Hospitality Education and Training Authority (THETA) until 1 April 2012, when we became the Culture, Art, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport Sector Education and Training Authority. Our mandate is to facilitate skills development within our sub-sectors through the disbursement of grants for learning programmes and monitoring of education and training as outlined in the National Skills Development Strategy (NSDS).

The World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS) is a quality recognition programme in Culinary Education that was developed by the WACS Education Committee following extensive research, consultation and consideration for global diversity and commitment to Culinary Excellence. This award is issued to Culinary schools in Member countries that meet or excel strict criteria for the provision and delivery of quality education in the field of Professional Cookery.

The South African Chefs Association (SAChefs) is South Africa’s authority on food and all things culinary. It is a non-profit organisation that has been representing Chefs, Cooks and Caterers at all levels for over 44 years. HTA School of Culinary is an active Corporate Member Training Provider of the South African Chefs Association.
